My Civil War Pages

In Honor of my Great Grandfather, Jeptha D. Armstrong

Jeptha D. Armstrong and 2nd wife, Sarah F. Buck Armstrong

The above picture is of my great grandfather who enlisted in the Confederate Army on 20 June 1862 in Rockport, now Malvern, Hot Spring County, Arkansas. He was assigned to Hawthorn's Regiment, Arkansas Infantry and participated in the Battle of Prarie Grove Arkansas on 7 Dec. 1862 He was captured at the Battle of Helena Arkansas on 4 July 1863 and was imprisoned at Alton Illinois and Fort Deleware, Deleware. He was exchanged at City Point, Virginia on March 7, 1865.
These pages are to honor him and his two brothers who also served in the CSA in the Civil War. His brother, John M. served in the same regiment and was captured at the same time and served in the same prison camps. Another brother, Richard Dickson Armstrong was captured in Missouri and died in the Alton Illinois Military Prison.
